SYNOPSIS: A satire-powered Saturday Night Live-style play that explores the pitfalls and potholes of testing in America. Witness the beginning of testing in prehistoric times! Become the studio audience for a new testing game show! Frighten audiences with a kung fu test prep, crash-land a national driving test with a sixteen-year-old, and torture audiences as they wait excruciatingly long (nearly two minutes) for the home pregnancy test results! Humor and satire collide when the "No Child Left Behind" fiasco, some people like to call it a mandate, captures the essence of what is right, wrong, and heinous in American schools today. It's all here, it's all fun, and it's all available to you for the very low price of two number-two pencils and possibly, an itsy bitsy piece of your soul in this hilarious sketch comedy. But remember, "This is only a test."

As a nineteen-year veteran teacher in Texas, I've seen test after standardized test levied against teenagers in the American educational system. Do they really judge what students have learned? Is it necessary to label a school based solely on the scores of students on one test? After years of listening to everyone complain, I finally put fingers to keyboard and wrote The Test, a play lampooning all types of standardized testing in America. There is, of course, educational testing, but also included are tests at the doctor's office, driver's tests, college tests, and the greatest testing entity that's ever lived - the Spanish Inquisition. This play was tested on the hardest audience, teachers, and left them rolling in the aisles!
