GREAT SCENES AND MONOLOGUES FOR CHILDREN AGES 7-14
Volume One: $14.95
Volume Two: $14.95
Type: Theater Book
Genre: Scenes & Monologues
Synopsis  |  Table of Contents
Volume One

These 85 performance pieces are drawn from dramas, novels, short stories, and even a personal letter. The assortment is diverse, including biographies, fiction, plays, and classics. A scant overview precedes each of the offerings. The unfortunate gender division is not relevant in this day and age ("monologues for girls"; "monologues for boys"); a thematical arrangement would be more appropriate and helpful. All of the selections are copyrighted and subject to royalties.

Volume Two

The much awaited second volume to Slaight and Sharrar's Great Scenes and Monologues for Children expands the compelling dramatic material available for young actors ages 7 to 14. The selections - taken from both contemporary and classic plays, myths and legends, and fairy tales - offer a wide variety of styles and themes to challenge children and their teachers and directors. Of particular interest, the collection features scenes and monologues from plays developed by the internationally renowned Young Conservartory at American Conservatory Theater (where Slaight and Sharrar are in residence) and London's Royal National Theatre.
