This script draws heavily on my own experiences when my mother was briefly in hospice care. The preceding months were brutal, and I was constantly looking for little distractions to deflect some of my own emotional pain. When the hospice decision was finally made, it became clear almost immediately that we had made the right choice. Mother had been in so much pain, but now that was being managed. It was a huge relief to finally see her at peace before she passed, and it made my own grief a little bit easier to process.
