SYNOPSIS: Why would you send someone to a dance with glass slippers? They're so uncomfortable! This pop-cultured adaptation of the classic fairy tale begins with an impossible Cinderella terrorizing her sweet grandmother and her studious sisters. When the prince announces he's having a ball, they try to keep her home, not out of spite, but for fear of embarrassment. Things take a very interesting turn when American Idol's Paula Abdul - "Paula Abdaula" shows up as her fairy godmother. Will Cinderella marry the prince so her family can have some peace?

"This play is adorable and perfect for middle school age kids. The only downside is some of the jokes and pop culture references are a bit dated. But my kids found it fun looking up some of the references."

"My kids kept asking to do Cinderella, but I knew I could not manage that type of production on my small stage. When I found this play, I was ecstatic. And it turned out to be just right for us. Every role has something significant to offer. The story is clever and entertaining. Since it is set in modern times it is easy to stage. I was a little worried by the length of the show, but my middle schoolers eventually learned their lines and learned to help each other out in the tough spots. We were honored to have the author, Jerry Rabushka visit us for one of our performances. The kids were excited and nervous to have him in attendance. He was very gracious and spent time with me and the kids before and after the show, answering questions and signing programs and scripts."
