SYNOPSIS: “Jack and the Beanstalk” is the familiar story of Jack, his mother, his cow Milky White and of course the beanstalk and the giant. Three narrators provide the framework and guide Jack through his adventures with the mysterious stranger, the magic beans, the beanstalk and of course the giant's castle at the top of the beanstalk. Jack finds the giant doesn't have a golden goose - he has a gaggle of golden geese! And the giant is actually the audience. That shouldn't be a problem, but a strike staged by the narrator's union might make it difficult to get through the story. Fortunately, Jack remembers what the first narrator tells him, that fairy tales always have a happy ending.

"Jack and the Beanstalk is a wonderful play. It is full of high energy, quick paced humor and the children love it. My high schoolers performed it for grades kindergarten through 6th grade. It was highly praised by all of the faculty and the students. You should do this one!"
By Jessica Kropp - Theatre TeacherDirector - Mena High School
I wrote this show when my wife and I ran a summer arts camp in Courtland, Kansas --we had about 40 kids from 4 to 12 years old and five days to put on a show. Jack and The Beanstalk worked perfectly. The older kids enjoyed playing the major characters, and the younger ones were delighted to be geese. The show went perfectly, and I recommend this play for anyone with a large cast and little time for rehearsing and set building.
