"...flowed beautifully...a very strong piece. Easy to produce because you could go from spot silhouette to spot to spot. Great ensemble choice for competition."

BEHIND THE CURTAIN: With Dennis Bush

I have always been fascinated by the parts that don't get included in news stories. What's the story that we're not getting because there is a limited amount of time to tell us, or a limited number of words in an article. So, I began to explore the components that weren't being told because they didn't fit an editorial narrative or because the people in the news story were too good at hiding what was really going on. I've had actors tell me that working on this play made them want to be journalists, which I find very gratifying. Directors have reached out to say that they've had some very lively rehearsal discussions and performance Q&A sessions that enhanced their experience with the play.

As is true with much of my work, directors should remember that when actors are addressing the audience, the audience is their scene partner. They're not speaking to the other characters onstage. And they should trust that the text will take the audience on the journey, so keep production elements simple.
