SYNOPSIS: In this faithful adaptation of Washington Irving's classic American ghost story, award winning playwright Mark Scharf has created theatrical event as easy or as complex to stage as your imagination and budget. The story follows Ichabod Crane, an outsider from Connecticut as he tries to fit into the isolated and insular society of Sleepy Hollow – a land steeped in stories of the supernatural including the terrifying tale of the Headless Horseman. In doing so, he seeks to court Katrina, the local beauty, but Katrina is already being pursued by the local hero and hell-raiser Brom Van Brunt and the sparks that fly may not be the kind Ichabod intends. This adaptation offers is a bare-bones, theatrical event incorporating songs of the period that provides opportunities for many actors or for doubling and combining of roles.
