I often enjoy going to a coffee house or restaurant and writing plays, or at least coming up with ideas, still, in this day and age, in a spiral notebook. There was one Starbucks in particular where I'd spend many an evening writing, and as I was coming up with character names for Kiss of Death, I was also checking out the Starbucks menu. I pretty much always get the same thing, hot chocolate, skim milk, light whip. But I started naming characters from the selections on the menu, and from there, the various personalities started to develop. This play has always been a favorite of mine, and from what I've seen, of audiences as well!
