This play was inspired by being at a large party and hearing all the snippets of relationship beginnings and endings, the gossip, the truths never before told, the lies told with confidence, and all the realities of that kind of microcosm of society. None of the things I heard at that party got woven into the play, but the tapestry of truths and lies, and love beginning and love ending inspired the play that I created for a lovely group of actors.

Lean into the humor, so the heartbreak hits even harder. As is true with much of my work, directors should remember that when actors are addressing the audience, the audience is their scene partner. They're not speaking to the other characters onstage. And they should trust that the text will take the audience on the journey, so keep production elements simple.
