SYNOPSIS: Meet Benard Muloovy, proprietor of Maudie’s Diner, the most no-nonsense cook you’ve ever met. Bernard gets served a full plate of comic chaos when his deceased wife decides to take up residence as a talking portrait on the diner wall. Enlisting the services of an angel, Michael, Maudie hopes to reunite Benard with their long lost daughter, Elizabeth. True to his mischievous nature, Michael delivers two Elizabeths, and Benard’s task is to decide which young woman is his real daughter. This play comes fully seasoned with characters like E.L. - a snobbish restaurant critic after Benard's secret recipe, Lizzy - a girl with a split personality, a forgetful waitress, a PhD student with communication problems, a yin-yang geriatric duo, a motorcycle mama, and of course Darlynn, the woman who has been trying to get Benard to the altar for years, because who doesn’t want a second helping of happiness? In this contest of laughter and tears, lines are drawn, sides are taken, and rules are broken as one young lady reveals a secret and ultimately claims her paternity, but not without a twist... or two. A single set, zany characters, and a heart of gold make this a great night out for the whole family!

"Hello, I am the President of Stage Crafters Community Theatre, Inc. in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, the oldest all volunteer community theatre in the State of Florida. I recently had the pleasure of co-directing Gary Ray Stapp's play 'Daddy's Girl' for our stage. This wonderful script was brought to my attention by my co-director, Tracy Sherman who had performed in this play years ago in Germany. I just loved the script from the first reading and found the characters charming and lovable! At that first reading, I knew this show would delight our audience. Bringing Gary's story to life was a true joy for me as a director and for the cast. Throughout rehearsals, the cast and crew would find little nuggets within the script that encouraged each of us to bring more to every aspect of the show - more character development, more sentiment, and more comedy. Every character was a pleasure to watch come alive. The flow of the story was easy and consistent. But, the biggest thrill for our little production was when Gary and Kim Stapp came to see the show! Our cast and crew were truly moved by this amazing surprise. We hope that they enjoyed watching the show as much as we enjoyed performing it. This is a wonderful script for any theatre to perform, from high school to Broadway, and this heartwarming, sweet play should grace the stages everywhere! Daddy's Girl is the little show that can and should!"

"Our audiences loved this play. We would highly recommend it. Easily staged and very funny. Thanks."

The inspiration for Daddy's Girl sprouted from two "old" seeds. The first was a talk show that reunited birth parents with the children they gave up for adoption decades earlier. I was moved by the beauty of those parent/child reunions, and that emotion stayed with me. Secondly, when I was 22, my wife gave birth to our daughter and immediately my wife had complications. In the hospital, I held our baby girl in my arms and I was overwhelmed with love, but also with the fear of the possibility of having to raise my baby girl without a mother. These feelings were the basis for Benard's choice. The love of his life had given him a baby, a little girl whom they looked forward to becoming the center of his and Maudie's world. Obviously, as in real life, things don't always go as planned.
