SYNOPSIS: Prince Charmless is a zany fairy tale comedy about a charmless prince who favors baking and creating culinary masterpieces to fencing, rescuing damsels in distress, and other typical charming prince activities. His concerned family makes every attempt to cure him of his lack of charm, including hiring the flamboyant and loquacious pageant consultant, Madame Muzette, to give him a crash course on charm. His home is soon invaded by a passel of putrid princesses, summoned to a ball, including Princess Prunella who is allergic to everything, the accident prone Princess Pandora, and others. But tragedy strikes as an ogre abducts the princesses. Will Charmless be able to save the day?

"This is a sweet comedy about staying true to yourself and not fitting the mold, it has great character options for a female heavy cast! The set requirements were fairly simple (we added some scene changes so we could include more extra villagers and create a medieval village set) and the costumes were fun to develop. The downside: there are MANY HUGE words that are challenging for younger actors to read and say (colloquialism, acquaintances, amiable, exquisite, gourmet, forthwith, allegations, Renaissance, just to name a few). My cast included 4-8th grade students, and the large words were challenging for most of my kiddos. The script itself is long (90 minutes without scene changes or intermission) and it was a lot to practice with younger actors."
