SYNOPSIS: A freshly updated version of the classic story of Jack and the Beanstalk with modern psychological undertones. Jack is a cheerful teen who enjoys running in the meadow with his best friend, a cow. Jack's mother, a bitter widow, sees Jack's optimism as stupidity and constantly upbraids the lad. Forced to sell his cow, Jack heads to market and encounters Maurio the Gypsy. Maurio tricks Jack into trading his cow for magic beans, infuriating his mother. Slipping away in the middle of the night, Jack discovers a giant beanstalk and realizes the beans actually were magic! Atop the beanstalk, Jack encounters a family imprisoned by an ogre. Jack resolves to rescue the family, best the Ogre and return the stolen treasures to the villagers. Along the way, Jack finds courage, self-esteem, his mother's acceptance, and even romance!
