"The play allows for young actors to explore stock character types."
By Mike Jordan - Director - Escalante Middle School
"Exposed by Dennis Bush is a provocative play that gives you an entirely different take on the way we all respond to the people in our lives. We see the outside “mask” that each character presents and, through the play, we’re able to probe deeper and see what’s below the surface. During the workshop process, the members of our theatre company enjoyed the opportunity to explore Bush’s vivid characters and the intense situation he’s put them in. He has an uncanny ability to go beyond the external and really get to the heart of the characters he creates. Working on Exposed was an extremely rewarding challenge for our actors. Bush moves from heartbreaking to wildly funny with ease and expertise. He challenges actors and audiences to get past the “façades we put up to keep other people from seeing how we really feel.” It’s a powerful message and a wonderful, thought-provoking play."
