Nikki Harmon
Nikki Harmon's plays run the gambit from Theatre for Young Audiences to Murderous Comedies and SocialPolitical Satires, and have been produced throughout the U.S. and Canada, England, Australia, India, China, Botswana, and So. Africa. Among her awards, she's been a Finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and received and an Outstanding Achievement in Playwriting from MACT (Minnesota Association of Community Theatres) the only time it had been awarded in 40 years. Along with her writing, Nikki spent many years as a Stage Manager, Lighting Designer and Casting Director, and is a pen ink and watercolor artist. When she's not writing or painting, Nikki has worked on Earchwatch projects in Kenya doing behavioral studies on Grevy's zebras in Namibia on a Cheetah rescue farm, researching Herbals at the National Library in Rome, illustrating katydids for the Smithsonian in D.C., and on archeological digs in Peru, Thailand, and Arizona, and uses these experiences in her plays to educate children about endangered species and different cultures. Nikki is the third generation of her family in show business, beginning with a Vaudevillian Grandfather, and a Great Uncle who played piano on the showboats up and down the Mississippi. She studied in the U.S., and in Paris, at the Sorbonne, and is an alumna of Carnegie Mellon, and Pasadena Playhouse College of Theatre Arts, and is a member of Actors Equity and the Dramatists Guild.
