| | Mark Baron has worked as a composer, arranger, orchestrator, musical director, conductor and pianist consistently for the past 20 years. To date, Mark has musically directed and conducted close to 100 productions and is currently the resident musical director at Plays in the Park in Edison, NJ where he has musically directed 28 main stage productions and 12 of their Children's Musicals. In addition to “The Reluctant Dragon," Mark is the composer of "Frankenstein, The Musical.” (www.frankensteinontour.com). A collaboration with librettists Gary P. Cohen and Jeffrey Jackson, this faithful adaptation of the Mary Shelley classic received a groundbreaking presentation before the cameras in a filmed production featuring Tony-winner Shuler Hensley ("Oklahoma") and Broadway veterans Ivan Rutherford ("Les Miserables") and Rita Harvey ("Phantom of The Opera"). Mark also composed the score for an adaptation of “Treasure Island” which premiered at the Forum Theater in April 2005. In 2006 Mark was the winner of the NJ Star Ledger’s "Jersey's Best" awards for Best Orchestrations for “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”. He also orchestrated the current tour of “The Kid From Brooklyn, The Danny Kaye Story”. Apart from the theater, Mark has carved a niche as one of the most successful keyboardists on the "pop revival" concert circuit performing in some of the largest venues around the country. In addition to performing with world-famous acts such as Aretha Franklin, The Drifters, Peaches and Herb, Joan Rivers, Freda Payne, The Platters, Lou Christie, Dion, Johnny Maestro and many others, he is currently the Musical Director and arranger for the famed 1960's vocal group The Duprees. | |
