Maia Akiva

Maia Akiva is a Self Help Entertainer, a reality bender and an emotional researcher who dips into every flavor of human behavior and self-discovery using self-help fiction, magical realism and original visual storytelling.
 
Originally from Israel. Her award winning self-help plays and short stories have been produced and published all over the United States in the past 10 years, inspiring hundreds of people to go on a journey of understanding, get to know themselves better and deeper, and ask themselves some important questions about their inner lives, their struggles and their relationship with themselves.
 
Maias creative work and her desire to help people take a look at themselves come from her own experience. After turning her back on herself for many years, she finally decided to start a new relationship with herself. Through imagination and storieslike a planned meeting with the woman who runs her destiny or throwing a Saturday night party for all of her emotionsMaia explores all of what life brings up and helps herself and her audience deal with and explore their challenging and difficult experiences and their most important relationshipthe one with themselves.
 
Maia brings basic self-help ideas to everyday people through entertainment, using imagination and humor. Her work includes: multi-media lecture presentations, outside-the-box workshop learning experiences, and stories that humanize emotions and human behavior. She takes her audience through a journey of self-discovery that she herself is inspired to work hard at every day.
 
Maia has been sharing her love of speaking and leading for the past 10 years as a hostMC and a workshop creator and leader for WriteGirl, a creative writing and mentoring organization for teen girls and women writers, where she has been a long-time member and volunteer. She also led workshops of self-discovery at Models of Pride one of the biggest LGBTQ youth conference in the US, lead volunteer training for WriteGirl, managed and lead the Israeli scouts Los Angeles chapter, and lead workshops and training as a lieutenant in the Israeli Army, many years ago.
 
Maia received her BA in Emotions and her MA in Imagination from the University of Life. She currently resides in Los Angeles, which, much to her surprise, turned out to be one of the biggest self-help and spirituality center in the US. Right now she is working on her first self-help novel Love Crime Unit (working title), a story about a world where love is being counted and measured for survival just like money.
