J.J. Jonas

J. J. Jonas, a Texas native, was born in Abilene on August 12, 1957. Jonas is a writer and senior editor for Sapphire Ink Publishing. She has coaching experience in the University Interscholastic League (UIL), Texas Forensic Association (TFA), and National Forensic League (NFL). Several of her scripts with Brooklyn Publishing have placed in national forensic competitions. She has coached numerous state champions and finalists in both poetry and prose interpretation, and national qualifiers in duo, duet, dramatic and humorous interpretation. She has also advanced in UIL One-Act Play in Texas to the state level of competition in the 2A, 3A, and 5A divisions.

Jonas' screenplay, Karma Café, made the semifinals of Bravo Network's Situation Comedy Contest, and Skirting the Ban, a one-act play about female soldiers in Iraq, had a premier reading at the Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York. Jonas is currently directing theatre at Salado High School in Salado, Texas. Her daughter, Dixie Darling, attends the Actors' Conservatory in Dallas, and several of her former students are actively working in the entertainment industry as writers and actors in New York City and Los Angeles.

Jonas is also involved in brain-based educational research and has authored "Narrative Physics," "Evolution of Atomic Archetypes," and "The Metaphoric Mind."

Jonas says her hobbies and interests all involve research: neurotheology, the true authorship of Shakespeare, esoteric literature, and achieving perfection by baking the ultimate chocolate chip cookie.
