Anne Hughes has been a professional writer with the United Nations for many years before retirement in 1985. At various times during her career, she has been a précis-writer composing summary accounts of United Nations meetings, a translator of official documents and meetings records from French, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese and Italian into English, and an editor of the English version of the Official Records of the General Assembly and of the Security Council. She has also written numerous articles for the publication The Log put out by the Circumnavigators Club.
