by  Steven Schutzman $5.25 Per Book

Genre Drama
Running Time 20-25 minutes
Cast Size 2 males, 1 female
Set Interior / Exterior

One of the creepiest stories ever written, Edgar Allan Poe’s A Cask of Amontillado dramatizes the revenge of the obsessive nobleman Montresor against his friend, the wine lover, Fortunato. On carnival night in Venice, Montresor lures the tipsy Fortunato to his estate with the promise of a taste of rare Amontillado sherry. Down they go into the dank catacombs winding under the mansion until Montresor, feigning friendliness the whole way, finally chains the hapless Fortunato down and walls him in alive. The claustrophobic atmosphere, Montresor’s smiling meanness and Fortunato’s growing horror are bound to send chills down anyone’s spine.
