A teenager slowly unravels in this highly theatrical seriocomedy. As our protagonist, jointly played by male and female actors, bounces like a pinball between parents who ignore him, classmates who victimize her, teachers who don’t help, and “friends” who offer the wrong sort of help in the form of socks, shoes and boots—the metaphorical weapons in Now You See Me’s often absurdly funny world—the play paints a chilling portrait of young people slipping through the cracks and feeling the need to resort to violence. Commissioned by the Choate Rosemary Hall Summer Arts Conservatory and used as part of anti-violence programs in New York City and throughout the country.
