How can I order one of your plays?
You have several options:
1. You can order online at our website, www.brookpub.com. Simply type the play you would like to purchase into our search box, click on the play title when it appears, and then click the “Add to Shopping Cart” button. From there you can select the number of scripts and royalties you wish to purchase. Click “Update Total” and then either begin the process again with another play or “Check Out.”
2. Call us at 1-888-473-8521. Our business hours are 8 AM to 4 PM Central time, Monday through Friday, and we would be happy to place your order and assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
3. Fax a school purchase order to 319-368-8011. For production runs of scripts, please ensure that your purchase order includes the number of performances and the date of the first performance or your order may experience delays while we obtain that information.
4. Mail a school purchase order or our order form to P.O. Box 248, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406. Please allow extra time for your order to be processed.
Please do not email orders.
How can I pay for my order?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. We can also bill your school or organization (U.S. only - international orders must be prepaid). Please note that we extend 30 days credit, at which time your invoice will become past due. Please find out if your school requires a purchase order number on the package/bill before you place your order.
What is an “eScript”?
Our eScripts scripts are a new, convenient way to preview a play before selecting it for performance without paying for shipping or waiting for delivery. An email containing a 10-day link to a PDF copy of the entire script is delivered directly to your email inbox within minutes of your order being placed. Please note that these scripts are for play selection purposes only and may not be photocopied or used for performance.
I did not receive my email with instructions on how to obtain my eScript.
Our internet download system is automated and the emails are sent within minutes of your order, but some school spam filters may block the email from reaching you. Please call us at 1-888-473-8521 if you do not receive your internet download email within one hour. We will verify your email address and forward the email to you. If you have an alternate or personal email address, that may help ensure that you receive your download as quickly as possible.
We always enjoy feedback from our customers. Please feel free to email your comments on our new internet download system to customerservice@brookpub.com
What is a royalty and when do I have to pay it?
A royalty grants you permission to use and perform a playwright’s work and is the author’s primary source of remuneration for the use of their property. Payment is due any time a play is performed in front of an audience outside of the members of the cast and crew, regardless of audience size or whether admission is charged. Royalty payments are due one week prior to your first performance, at which time you will be given permission to go ahead with your production.
Our drama department has a very small budget. Can I purchase just one script and photocopy it for my cast?
No. All scripts published by Brooklyn are under copyright, making photocopying illegal. You must purchase one script for each speaking member of your cast and one for the director. Many members of your technical crew may also need a script.
Our customers are primarily non-profits: middle schools, high schools, and churches. Our prices are set with the needs of such organizations in mind. You may wish to consider choosing a play without royalties or one that you can use as a fundraiser for your drama program - dinner theatre productions are always well-received.
Why haven’t you shipped my order of scripts?
Have you included your number of performances and initial performance date? Cast orders of scripts must include the initial performance date and the anticipated number of performances. Whenever more than one script is ordered, you will be billed and obligated to pay royalty fees unless you inform us that your selections are for perusal only. We will not ship your order until we can obtain that information.
We have decided not to perform the play we ordered. Can we return the scripts?
Unfortunately, no. All script sales are final. We will not, however, bill you for royalties if your performance is canceled for any reason. In order to prevent these situations, we provide the first half of many of our full-length and short plays on our website in PDF form and our ten-minute plays are available in their entirety for reading purposes. We also allow the purchase of a single copy of all of our full-length and short plays in either hardcopy or internet download form to facilitate play selection. Please read the whole play before purchasing copies for your cast and royalties.
Can I alter the play I have purchased for my performance?
All plays published by Brooklyn Publishers are under copyright and may not be altered without permission. All requests to change wording, gender of characters, or cut portions of the script must be submitted in writing and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. You must obtain a permissions letter from Brooklyn Publishers before making any changes to the published work. |
